Council adopts FY 24/25 tentative budget, sets public hearing

The Bisbee City Council passed a resolution Tuesday night adopting the 2024/25 tentative budget and set a public hearing next month to hear from citizens regarding the budget on June 4 at 7 p.m.

The council approved Resolution R-24-07, adopting the budget FY24/25 city budget in the amount of $181,848,542 which includes a $10,879,671 general fund budget.

Bisbee-born Brothers Step Up to the Plate to Open a New Brewery and Restaurant in Warren

For two brothers who grew up in the San Jose neighborhood of Bisbee, opening a business that allows them to give back to the community makes their hearts happy. Brian and Daniel Vertrees, owners of Ballpark Brewing Company at 97 Center Street in Warren, officially opened the family-forward brewery and restaurant to the public on April 27, a weekend after their soft opening April 20 and 21.

The brothers, along with their wives- Brian’s wife, Lindsay, who has also been leading the charge getting the word out there and engaging the community, and Daniel’s wife, Aztlin, a recent first-time mother and their children all participated in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the day. What they have learned in the couple weeks since they opened their doors to the neighborhood, officially completing the trifecta of breweries in Bisbee (one in each of the three neighborhoods), is that the people are more than ready for them to fill a void in the area.

The idea started brewing pre-COVID, when the two each were beginning to feel like they wanted to seek out new ventures in life. Brian was teaching and coaching in the Bisbee school district, mostly at the high school, where he was head coach of the football team. Daniel was working in local government at the Cochise County Courthouse. Growing up, the two, along with their other brother, Tyler, spent a lot of time in Warren while they were visiting their grandma. “We knew we wanted something new and something different in Warren,” said Daniel.
